203-821-708 Characterization of Extractables from Dental Bite Guards Using GC-TOFMS

In this work, extracts for over-the-counter dental bite guards were prepared and analyzed by GC-TOFMS. The analytical evaluation threshold (AET) was determined and analytes above this threshold were investigated. The Pegasus BTX was used for the initial screen of all samples and the Pegasus HRT+ was used when samples had analytes above the AET without a library identification. The mass spectral data and chromatographic elution information were leveraged to better characterize the chemical composition of these extracts.

203-821-707 Improved GCxGC-TOFMS Workflow to More Efficiently Meet Compliance and Confidence Requirements for Fragrance Allergen Analysis

To meet the need of a fast, robust, and reliable--but also sufficiently flexible--method to quantify fragrance allergens, an analytical workflow based on comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) was developed. In this work, the analysis of 57 fragrance allergens and their relevant isomers is demonstrated with the LECO Pegasus BTX 4D with QuadJet Thermal Modulator.

203-821-704 Determination of Ash in Various Plastics and Plastic Blends

Determining the filler content of plastic is an important aspect of quality control monitoring. Ash is the inorganic remainder that is left after heating a polymer at high temperatures to remove the presence of water and organic matter. Therefore, the ash content of a plastic is reflective of the relative filler content in that plastic and can be used as a quality control parameter. The standard test method for ash content analysis is thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

203-821-703 Analysis of Musty Odorous Compounds in Drinking Water by SPME GC-TOFMS

Complaints received by drinking water industries are often related to bad taste and/or unpleasant odors in drinking water. Most complaints involve the presence of chlorine or earthy/musty-smelling compounds. These issues can lead consumers to perceive the water as "unsafe", even though the substances causing the issues are typically not harmful. Reliable detection, identification, and quantification of the analytes behind these unpleasant tastes and odors in drinking water is essential for addressing these problems effectively. The Pegasus BTX GC-TOFMS system offers a solution to this challenge with the acquisition of full mass spectra even at concentrations below 50 pg/L, thanks to its exceptional sensitivity.

203-821-700 Determination of Sulfur and Carbon in Lithium, Nickel, Magnesium, and Cobalt Battery Materials

Carbon determination in Li-NMC is important as the Carbon content directly impacts the performance of this battery material. In addition, emerging battery technologies can take advantage of improved Sulfur utilization when Li-NMC is used as an additive, making Sulfur determination in the base material an important quality control procedure.
